The First Investment Round
Horizon is looking for a first Round of Investment that will raise the sum of $25M. The overall target is to get to a position where it can be said with confidence that the Autocopter can be built for a specific cost and will achieve certification.
This state is called ‘pre-digital certification’ because it requires that all the major bits of the aircraft be put through an expert-driven design process to the point where the aircraft can be accurately simulated and the results shown to the certification authority for approval. This does not mean that the aircraft has been award Certification, only that the Regulatory Authority fully approves of what Horizon is about to spend large sums of money on developing.
The UK Government does offer R&D grant aid to companies involved in aerospace-specific R&D activities. The amount can be as high as 50% of R&D spend. Access to funds involves a competitive process and is dependent on the state of the awarding organisation’s (ATI) budget. Horizon has already discussed with ATI a grant to accompany any first-round investment.
